Scoliosis

by Annabel

I was found to have scoliosis just over 9 months ago by my Dad. He's a doctor and noticed when I was walking, I leaned more to one side. At first I wasn't even worried. But then I was told I that I would need an operation.

Everything happened so quickly. I had my operation three months after it was first noticed.

All I could think was 'Will I ever Dance Again?' The answer is YES.

I still have back pain and a scar (which I wouldn't get rid of for anything)

Everyone seems to say the back brace is awful but I managed to cover mine up with baggy jumpers and hoodies. It was uncomfortable but I really did grow quiet attached to it!

I'm really glad my Dad spotted it because now I can move on to more important things and help other people. What keeps me happy is knowing that I'm special, because not everyone can say they have a "metal spine!"
