Health > Real stories > Archive > O > Osgood-slatter diseaseOsgood-slatter disease and hypermobile jointsby Hannah, 14I was six when I woke up every night crying, with pains from my foot to my knee. I went to get some new shoes and got told I was flat footed and had to go to the doctor. They told me I was flat footed and I got referred to the hospital where I was casted and given insoles. I also saw a physiotherapist for my tight muscles. She told me I had high knee caps. Six years later I had severe knee pain and went to the doctors. I got referred to the hospital and they said I had Osgood-Schlatter disease and that it was unusual for peaple who don’'t like sport to have it. It got so bad that I was put it casts from my thigh to ankle for three weeks and had crutches. I came out and had physiotherapy and was told I had hypermobile joints. I am still in a lot of pain, on crutches and on eight tablets a day but I just have to get on with my life. Thanks for reading my story.
