Leukaemia: How I proved everyone wrong

by Vikki

When I was nine years old I was diagnosed with Leukaemia. I didn't know what it was but I knew it was something very bad because everyone was crying.

I was admitted to hospital and they carried out loads of tests. That night they told my Mum that I had ALL Leukaemia.

The following day I was admitted to another hospital where I stayed for three or four weeks while I was receiving treatment and all different things. My Doctor told my Mum that I had very high Leukaemia cells and things weren't looking good for me. But I proved them wrong.

Half way through my treatment I had a stroke, which they thought was caused by one of the treatments. All of my left side went numb but after 24 hours it went back to normal.

There have been good times in hospital, such as the new friends that I've made. Once we were really naughty and hid from our teacher.

I'm now 13 years old and finished treatment two years ago, almost three years ago now in fact. I'm doing really well apart from being diagnosed with epilepsy, but I'll get threw it.

If you're diagnosed with Leukaemia, always remember you can beat it if you put your mind to it.
