Kidney transplant: Dialysis

by Tauseef

I am 14 years old, in year 10 in school, and have been on dialysis for eight months. My time in the hospital has been fun. The staff are very friendly.

I am always entertained in the ward; I play Playstation and watch videos. On the Playstation, my favourite games are Actual Soccer 2, Brave Heart, and many others.

I love to watch cricket, I could watch it all the time. It is so much better than football! Football is so boring and I don’t understand how people can get so worked up about it. Now cricket is something you can get worked up about, it is so exciting. My favourite teams are England, Australia and Pakistan. Even though England keeps losing I still love watching them play. Australia is absolutely amazing and has some of the best skills.

I also love to play games on the Internet. I usually play games on Yahoo. But one of my favourite games to play is pool; I am going to get a pool table when I get home. I am the youngest child so I am spoiled. I have two sisters and one brother and I get the most of everything.

My happiest time when I have been on dialysis was when my sister was being trained on how to use the dialysis machine. It made me feel so wonderful.

My hardest time has been when the weather was hot. It was really hard to get comfortable.

Other than that I have no restrictions. I can eat whatever I want and drink whatever I want, which is really nice. But now I have to drink 24 glasses of anything a day, which is no problem. I have a chart and mark them off as I drink each one. It is actually really easy.

Oh yeah and on the 20th August I received a kidney transplant and I feel great!!!
