My heart transplant

by Esra

Hi my name is Esra. I’m in hospital because of my heart.

About five months ago I found out that my heart was not functioning properly and I was put on a list for a heart transplant. I received my new heart within three days of coming to the hospital.
The doctors told my parents that I was very lucky to receive it so soon. Everything was going great until the doctors said I could go off my medicine.

I went off the medicine and woke up at 3 am feeling sick. In the morning I was taken to the hospital to find out that my body had rejected coming off the medicine. I was then put on a heart monitor machine and had a tube down my throat to breathe better with.

Then they put me back on the medicines. I will now be in the hospital for about two to three weeks to get my body and heart working properly.

Other than that I am a normal teenager who likes to listen to music and watch the TV.

When I got here, I was very shy at first but then I got to know everyone and began to feel better. So if you or someone you know has to come to the ward you don’t need to worry or be afraid, everything will be fine.
