Fragile bones

by Saba, 14

My name is Saba and I’m 14-years-old. My bones are thin and I tend to fracture them really quickly. I fractured my bones around ten times and I’m in and out of hospital usually and I’m getting the progenitor infusion done.

My main challenge would be coming in hospital for three days because I live quite far and just when I break my bones it’s quite hard for me to eat, sleep and drink and do other things.

I wanted to go to kick boxing classes but I couldn’t do that because of my condition. And it’s stopped me from riding my bike and playing sports.

When I have my treatment done I just have a cannula put in. And they just put the medicine through that it thickens my bones so it makes them a lot more stronger so they don’t fracture so easily.

I would actually like to become a doctor in the future and help people with illnesses especially kids. My advice for teenagers with my condition would be just be careful about what you do. Stay happy because when you are upset it just kinda makes you really lousy and makes it a lot harder for you to deal with your illness.
